Save the children Canada believes in a nation of equity, respect, and partnership for every child, where Indigenous children have the right to develop to their full potentials within their Nations and Canada and as such have worked closely with a National Indigenous Advisory Circle on the cre-ation of a Relationship Framework. This Framework, led by the Director, Indigenous and Canadian Programs provides a road map that ensures programs are community-driven and community-led and that healing and revitalization of cultural teachings and languages are centered on the Spirit of the Child.
Reporting to the Chief Policy and Programs Officer, the Director, Indigenous and Canadian Pro-grams provides strategic direction, advice, planning and implementation to support Save the Chil-dren Canada’s interactions with all levels of internal, external, anc community stakeholders. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director, Indigenous and Canadian Programs will have the ability to deliver sensitive or complex information coupled with an in-depth understanding of In-digenous cultures, histories, protocols, issues, demographics, and social structures. This exciting oppor-tunity will play a lead role in developing and leading implementation of culturally relevant and com-munity based programs.
The successful candidate will have proven abilities in building and strengthening strategic partnerships, which will assist in securing traditional and non-traditional funding for Indigenous and other Canadian initiatives. Combined with increasing awareness and commitment from internal departments, they will represent Save the Children Canada as the leader for Indigenous initiatives and a member of collaborative initiatives to contrib-ute to global solution development. The candidate will possess a Master’s degree in education or social work and bring 10 years of significant experience managing strategic initiatives in a related industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates. Proficiency in French or an Indigenous language is an asset.
